About your teeth

Preventative dentistry

The 2 major dental diseases, dental caries (tooth decay) and Chronic Inflammatory Periodontal Disease (CIPD), commonly known as pyorrhea are preventable diseases, hence our surgery promotes preventive and early treatment. We encourage regular dental check-ups based on patient needs, not on a hard and fast rule of every 6 months. Patients who are unable to maintain good oral hygiene to control CIPD may need bi- or tri- monthly maintenance check-ups whereas others with excellent oral hygiene may only need yearly, 2-yearly or even 3-yearly check-ups.

Besides prophylaxis, preventive dentistry may also include dietary advice, instructions in effective tooth brushing techniques, flossing and other interdental cleaning procedures, special oral hygiene procedures for patients with braces, implants, dental crown and bridge works, topical fluoride applications, fissure sealing, treatment of dental hypersensitivity, and interceptive orthodontic treatment.

Restorative Dentistry
Once past the preventive stage and the teeth are ravaged by caries (decay), we provide restorative treatment. Cavities of different sizes, shapes, sites are rendered free of caries (decay) and teeth restored to their original anatomy and colour with function and aesthetics optimally achieved.
Crown and Bridge Dentistry
Dental crowns and bridges are required when insufficient tooth structure are available for intra-coronal restoration.
Endodontics/Root Canal Treatment
This treatment is required when the dental pulp is infected or traumatised beyond recovery giving rise to severe tooth ache and/or swelling.
Implant Dentistry

Where indicated, implants can be provided to restore single or multiple missing tooth/teeth.

Implants can also be provided to improve the function of full dentures by serving as retainer (as in implant retained dentures) or support (as in implant supported dentures).

Prosthetic Dentistry
Denture/removable prosthesis are cheaper forms of replacing missing teeth. Very often poor retention and stability of full dentures are the cause of masticatory difficulty in full denture wearers; especially after many years of wearing full dentures resulting in markedly resorbed (flattened) alveolar ridges. Where indicated, implants can be used to enhance denture retention and/or support.
Orthodontic/orthopaedic Dentistry

We provide a comprehensive range of orthodontic treatment ranging from interceptive, bioprogressive orthodontics to corrective orthodontic treatment.

Where there is impending discrepancy in jaw growth and skeletal mismatch, we advocate early orthpaedic intervention and in patients where corrective orthognathic surgical correction is required we will either refer or work in conjunction with the oral surgeon to bring about the best result possible.

Cosmetic Dentistry
We provide a comprehensive range of cosmetic dental treatment such as bleaching, porcelain veneer, composite veneer, correction of mal-posed teeth, correction of non-ideal tooth-shape, tooth-size, tooth-colour, gum line etc.
Periodontics

Chronic Inflammatory Periodontal Disease (CIPD) is the most common disease affecting the adult population. Most sufferers are unaware of this problem because the abnormal (>80%) has become the norm (<20%)

Since supporting alveolar bone once loss, does not regrow, early treatment is essential and will prevent unnecessary tooth loss due to CIPD.

Sufferers of CIPD will need to undergo a course of preliminary periodontal treatment followed by definitive periodontal surgery if indicated.

Oral surgery

A variety of minor oral surgeries are expeditiously performed in this surgery.

Simple extraction, surgical extraction, wisdom tooth removal, removal of septic roots, operculectomy, apicectomy, radisectomy, hemisection, labial frenectomy, lingual frenectomy, etc. are surgical procedures commonly performed in this clinic when indicated.

Miscellaneous Treatment
In addition to all the above, we provide mouth guards for contact sports, oral appliances for sleep apnoea, splints, occlusal splints, bite planes etc. to relieve TMJ pains and tension headaches.
